1835 Three members of the Institute of Charity arrive in England. 1847 Members of the Institute of Charity arrive at St. Mary's Newport. 1854 Institute of Charity sent to Cardiff by Antonio Rosmini at the request of Bishop Brown. 1855 Death of Antonio Rosmini. 1858 Site secured off Plwcca Lane (City Road) on a 999 year lease. 1860 The Foundation Stone of the Church was laid on August 20th .

1859-1862 Fr. Laurence Gastaldi was the firstRector of the Cardiff Mission
Fr Costa, Fr. Clarke & Dr. Gastaldi were the Rosminian Priests then working in Cardiff. 1861 The Church was opened by Bishop Brown September 24th. The veiw below shows the Church circa 1870 - note that the Tower, Presbytery and Dormer Windows are missing.
1865 Fr. Caccia as Rector
1865 Pulpit donated by Fidele Primaves and designed by Charles Hanson installed.
1869 The Marquis of Bute, young Catholic convert arrives in Cardiff.
1871 Contract signed in September for the building of St. Peter's School. Foundations laid in October of the same year. 1871 Work started on the buiding of Sacristy, Cloister and Presbytery. 1872 St. Peter's School opened August 5th as a mixed School. 1873 Presbytery built by James of Cardiff.
1874 - 1877 Fr. S. Bruno Parish Priest 1877-1885 Fr. R. Richardson Parish Priest 1878 Sisters of Providence came to Heathfield House. 1879 Fr. Richardson built and opened the Guildhall next to St. Peter's Infant School. 1882 Stained Glass in the Sanctuary added by Meyer of Munich.
Each window cost £160.00 (Donated by Bute, Fidele Primavesi &
Parishioners). 1884 Peal of 8 bells weighing 5 tons and bearing the names
of saints (Donated by Bute) was solemnly blessed by Bishop Hedley.
1890 - 1891 New Organ and Gallery erected in memory of Fortunatus
Signini. Old organ moved to Lady Chapel. 1892-1893 Lady Chapel redesigned.
The picture shows the interior of the Church circa 1920 but the splendor and size of the Rood Screen can be clearly seen.
1899-1901 Fr. Geo Cormack Parish Priest
1902 Schools extended.
1912 Four Patron Saints added to Rood Screen.
1912 Stained Glass windows added to Aisle (made by Hardiman of Birmngham).
1921 St. Peter's chair re-founded 1926 6 dormer windows addes to give more light. 1928 - 1929 St. Peter's School rebuilt at a cost of £11,000. 1829 Beatification of John LLoyd and Phillip Evans who had been martyred on 22nd July 1679 at th junction of City Road and Crwys Road. Stained glass window erected in honour of the martyrs. 1931 Parish had 6 priests Fr's J. McGinn, A. Donnelly, H.H. Holman, T. Nunan, J. M. Cronin, M. Fennell.
1935-1947 Fr. J. Hurley Parish Priest
1939-1945 Church bombed during WW2 with incendiaries - much
damage done to Lady Chapel Roof
1948 June 28th Consecration of St. Peter's by Archbishop McGrath. The ceremony lasted from 9.30am to 1.15pm 1953-1957 Fr. Colbert Parish Priest 1952 Statue of Our Lady Queen of the World erected in the garden nexzt to the church. 1955 Parish Hall built next to the church. 1957-64 Fr. Grimshaw Parish Priest 1961 September 24th Centenary of the Parish. 1977 St. Peter's School moved in April to Southey Street.
1999 Floodlighting of the Tower installed and completed.
