GENERAL CONGREGATION INSTITUTE OF CHARITY:

All Religious Order have to hold a General Congregation every ten years. Next week, we will be meeting at Monte Calvario, where Antonio Rosmini began the Order in 1828. Fr General has asked us to consider the re-structuring of the Order. Please pray for us during this time, that we may be able to discern God’s will for us.

A Prayer for the General Congregation

Word of the Lord, Word of God,

May you lead the members of the Institute of Charity,

whom you have inspired with the desire to follow you.

Let you yourself, - no other - come with us

and direct our every step;

Tell us when to stop and when to move.

Grant us to rest and to walk with you.

When you rest in our midst, we too will rest,

Watching in prayer, meditating on your words

and awaiting the directions of your Will.

When you set out in our midst, let us move also with you,

fearing nothing under your guidance.

O Word of God,

when your command for us is quietness,

grant us to love and desire it.

When you instruct  us to rise and march, make us ready

and strong, and resilient for the fatigue of the journey.

We pray for you in particular to be with us as we prepare

for the General Congregation of 2008.

Help us to be attentive to the indications

of your Will  for our little Institute.

Through the example and the intercession

of our venerable Father Founder,

grant that also now we may desire

only and without limit to please you.

May you accomplish in us those commands of yours;

thus we will fulfil them in you. Amen
