Presents a special concert played on the

Sir Julian Hodge Memorial Organ

DAVID SAINT

Organist of St Chad's Cathedral, Birmingham

Wednesday 16th April at 7.30pm.

 

DAVID SAINT is Organist of St Chad's Cathedral in Birmingham and also Head of Organ Studies at Birmingham's Conservatoire.

David's concert will be an ideal opportunity to hear many of the sensational sounds Cardiff's newest organ has to offer in a programme which includes music by Bach, Buxtehude, Vierne and Widor.

Tickets price £8 Full and £5 Concessions, will be on sale at the door on the evening of the concert.

Please arrive early to ensure a good seat. Doors open at 6.45pm.

 

David Saint was born in Jarrow in the northeast of England, and read music at Hull and Liverpool universities. He gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO) diploma at the age of 20, winning the Turpin Prize for performance. David studied the organ with Alan Spedding and Dame Gillian Weir and is now both Head of Organ Studies and Associate Dean at Birmingham Conservatoire as well as Organist of St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham.

Pursuing a busy concert schedule as a recitalist and also as a choral director, David Saint has performed in venues in the UK, Europe (Germany, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic) and the USA. Recent recitals have included Durham Cathedral, Newcastle Cathedral, Hexham Abbey, St Catherine’s College Cambridge, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Jomala in the Ålands Organ Festival, and Sorø monastery in Denmark. In 2007, he played in Notre-Dame and in summer 2008 has been invited to play in Vilnius.

Wearing another hat, David is an external examiner for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and for the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. He is a member of the Mundus Musicalis working group of the Association of European Conservatoires and a trustee of the Royal College of Organists.
